1 whole egg
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup whole milk
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Doughnut Glaze

Beat egg in large bowl until light and lemon colored. Gradually beat in the sugar. Beat until the mixture thickens. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, adding to egg mixture, alternating with addition of melted butter, milk and vanilla, stirring until the flour is moistened. Chill for 1 hour. Preheat the oil in the deep fryer. Roll dough out on lightly
floured board to  1/2 inch. Cut using a floured doughnut cutter. Fry until golden brown turning once. Drain. Ice with Doughnut Glaze if desired or dust with confectioner's sugar or cinnamon sugar.
