1 quart (32 ounces) canned cut up tomatoes
1 16-ounce can tomato puree
1 large bell pepper, chopped
1 carrot, shredded
1 medium onion, chopped
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, cut up
8 ounces sweet Italian sausage, browned, drained and chopped
1 pound lean beef, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon crushed oregano leaves
2 whole bay leaves
2 teaspoons crushed basil
1 medium clove garlic, crushed and mincedBrown the minced beef in the olive oil, then add onions and peppers, stirring until crisp-tender. Place with remaining ingredients into large cooking pot and bring to a boil, stirring ingredients together well. Reduce to simmer and allow to cook until liquid is reduced and product is tender and thickened. Serve hot over freshly cooked angel hair pasta, spaghetti or desired pasta. Will serve a family of 4 with leftovers.
