Fudgey Chocolate Pound Cake

6 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 3/4 cups cake flour or all-purpose flour sifted 3 times
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 ounces baking chocolate
¾ cup whole milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Oven:  350°

Melt chocolate.  In large bowl, beat eggs, cream cheese, butter, vanilla and sugars together until smooth and creamy; stir in chocolate.  Sift together dry ingredients and add to chocolate mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.  Stir in vanilla.  Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool 20 minutes in pan before removing to rack to cool completely.  Glaze with chocolate confectioner’s glaze if desired.
