Gloria’s Hundred Dollar Cake 1 cup butter or shortening
2 cups granulated sugar
6 stiffly beaten egg whites
3 teaspoons cocoa
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 3/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 egg yolks
5 tablespoons strong cold coffee
Hundred Dollar Frosting
Oven: 350°In large mixing bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together and beat into butter/sugar mixture alternately with milk on medium speed. Stir in coffee, vanilla and egg whites. Bake in 3 greased and floured 10” pans until center springs back. Cool 10 minutes in pans before removing to racks to cool completely before frosting with Hundred Dollar Frosting.
