Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preheat oven to 375º. Sift dry ingredients through a colander or sieve to separate the chocolate chips and nuts from other ingredients. Beat 1 cup of butter in a medium bowl. Beat sifted ingredients into butter until blended. Beat 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of vanilla. Mix beaten egg mixture into butter mixture until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop rounded spoonfuls of batter, spaced well apart, onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned but still soft looking.  Cool 2 minutes on sheet then remove carefully to aluminum foil on counter to cool. Will make about 2 dozen large cookies.
