Chocolate Nut Fingers

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts of choice
Oven:  375°

Mix sugar, margarine, milk, vanilla, almond and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
While preheating oven, shape 1 teaspoon dough into a 4 inch rope (For smooth, even ropes, roll back and forth on a sugared surface). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9-12 minutes or until set and very light brown. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack. Heat chocolate chips until melted. Dip ends of cookies into chocolate, then into nuts. Place on waxed paper to stand about 10 minutes or until chocolate is set. (I found it worked best to briefly place in the fridge to set the chocolate)
