Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Mix 1 ¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
¾ cup raisins
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
Sift together flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Layer all other ingredients in a 1-quart canning jar, firmly packing down each layer before adding the flour mixture last. Cover lid with a decorative cover using a 9-inch circle of fabric securing with a rubber band and if desired, a decorative ribbon or bow.

Oatmeal Raisin Spice Cookies
Empty mix into large mixing bowl. Thoroughly blend ingredients together with wooden spoon. Work in ¾ cup butter (softened). Slightly beat one egg and add to mixture with 1 tablespoon vanilla. Mix until completely blended. Shape into balls and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 350º 11 to 13 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to wire rack to cool. Will make 3 dozen cookies depending on size of dough balls.
