Peanut Butter Cup Cooky Mix

1 ¼ cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
8 peanut butter cup candies, chopped

Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Layer sugar, flour mixture then candy respectively in a 1 quart canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place. Cover lid with decorative 9-inch circle of fabric or paper, securing with rubber band and ribbon. Attach following directions to jar:

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Remove peanut butter cups from jar and set aside. Empty remaining cookie mix into large mixing bowl. Thoroughly blend mix together with wooden spoon or fork. Add ½ cup butter, softened. Add in 1 egg, slightly beaten, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix until completely blended. Stir in peanut butter cups.  Shape into balls and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375º 12 to 14 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to wire racks to cool. Will make up to 2 ½ dozen cookies.
