2 cups light brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup cream
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
2 cups pecan halves

In heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cream and soda, stirring well. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.  Reduce heat; cook to soft ball stage (234º), stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and stir in butter and pecans, beating until thick, 2-3 minutes.  Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Store in airtight container.  Makes about 2 1/2 dozen small pralines.
