Spicy Pumpkin Bars

1/2 cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 cups prepared pumpkin
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese Frosting (tinted if desired)
Chopped pecans
Oven:  350°

In mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars; add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Beat in the pumpkin.  Sift together dry ingredients, including spices, and gradually stir into the creamed mixture.  Spread this into a greased 15 1/2” x 10 1/2” x 1” jelly roll pan.  Bake about 30 minutes or until springy in center.  Cool in the pan on a rack.  Ice with Cream Cheese Frosting; sprinkle with nuts and cut into bars.
