One Bowl Spice Cake

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Oven:  350º

Lightly grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans. Measure all ingredients into large bowl and beat for 1/2 minute on low speed of electric mixer.  Beat on medium speed until creamy, smooth and thick, scraping bowl occasionally.  Pour into pans.  Bake for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center of cake comes out clean.  Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely before frosting.
