Swedish Butter Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 whole eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
Oven: 375º

Cream the butter and sugar; beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt and add to creamed mixture, blending well. Chill for 1 hour. Roll out dough on floured waxed paper in small batches, keeping dough on the hard side. Re-chill if needed. Use cookie cutters to cut out in different shapes. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet until hard, not brown, about 6 to 8 minutes. Will make up to 4 dozen cookies.
