Homemade Dog Biscuits ![]()
Here's one just for the Pooch!
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups bran
1 cup yellow cornmeal
4 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rye flour
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 cups tomato juice
Oven: 300°Dissolve yeast in warm water; stir in tomato juice. Combine all-purpose flour, bran, grits or cornmeal, salt, garlic powder, whole wheat flour, rye flour and non-fat dry milk powder. Stir in yeast mixture. Dough should be very stiff.
On lightly floured board roll dough 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick; cut into desired shapes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 1 hour. Turn oven off and allow biscuits to harden in oven 4 hours or overnight. Will make about 6 dozen biscuits depending on size.
