Classic Strudel

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 beaten egg
1 tablespoon warm water
Granulated sugar
Extra melted butter
Apple filling
Raisin/Nut filling
Oven:  400

Combine the egg, salt, oil and flour in mixing bowl.  Add enough warm water to make a soft dough.  Knead 15 minutes; brush with oil and cover with a warm bowl for 30 minutes.  While dough is resting prepare your fillings.  Roll the dough out paper-thin on a floured cloth, stretching by hand if needed, brushing with melted butter to facilitate stretching.  Pile the Apple filling in a line about 2 inches from edge of dough.  Spread Raisin/Nut filling over remainder of dough.  Roll up lengthwise, sealing edges, and place seam side down on greased baking sheet, tapering ends.  Bake about 30 minutes, brushing occasionally with butter.  Five minutes before removing from oven dust with sugar. Cut while still warm into sections.
