Swedish Butter Cake

2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Oven:  350º

Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan.  Sift together the flour, baking powder, & salt twice.  In mixing bowl, cream butter & sugar until very smooth.  Add eggs, one at a time.  Alternately add milk and flour mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition.  Blend in vanilla extract.  Spoon into pan, level, and push slightly toward sides of pan.  Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes.  Cool in pan 10 minutes, before inverting onto a rack to cool completely. Glaze with Fresh Lemon Glaze.
